The customer prepares the samples for shipment.
RNA samples and sequencing libraries should be shipped on dry ice (recommended: 10 kg; minimum 5 kg). We collect sample shipments only on Mondays and Tuesdays to ensure the highest level of protection for clients' valuable material and minimise the possibility of a shipment remaining in a courier depot over the weekend. The person packing the samples should consult the General Dry Ice Safety Data Sheet.
DNA samples may be shipped on dry ice (minimum 5 kg) or with ice packs (at least 4 standard ice packs). Shipments are collected only on Mondays and Tuesdays to minimise the risk of them remaining in a courier depot over the weekend and thereby ensure maximum sample safety.
For transporting material on dry ice or with ice packs, use specialist thermal containers, such as a polystyrene box with walls at least 4 cm thick (we recommend 6 cm).
A shipment transported on dry ice requires special labelling (UN 1845, including the dry ice weight and the total package weight. The dry ice label must be waterproof.
DNA and RNA samples should be sent in 1.5 ml or 2.0 ml DNase and RNase-free tubes.
Each sample should be labelled clearly using a waterproof marker or pencil, both on the cap and on the side of the tube. The sample names on the tubes must exactly match the names provided in the Sample Information Form. Please do not put other information on the tube to avoid discrepancies. Failure to follow the instructions may delay the start of sample analysis.
Please ensure that each tube is tightly closed. The lid of the tube should be secured/glued with at least 3 layers of Parafilm.
To prevent tubes from being crushed during transport, place them in a closable tube rack and put the rack in a resealable bag.

When packing samples, follow our shipping checklist to prepare the package.
